My eyes are bleeding (for your pleasure!)
Today is a holiday in Bosnia and I don't have to go to work. But that doesn't mean I don't have to work.
I'm painting the cover of 2nd volume of Amnesia (the old one) episodes. You have read the last posts and you know I've finished drawing the book, right? So, I'm painting it. And to show you just how much work I'm putting into it I'm going to show you what I did today.

Now that's a bell tower being blown in some sort of explosion. Nothing wrong with that...

Let's zoom out a little and compare it with the work I had made prior to today's painting.

Cool, the whole city is being blown away. That's awesome!
But how big is this piece of artwork in compare to the actual cover, you ask me. It's 1/8th of the image!

That is INSANE amount of detailed artwork!
I'm drawing bricks on bell tower that will be millimeter big on printed book.

Why am I doing it? Because I'm crazy perfectionist who enjoys working on zoom of ~500% and because I like seeing bricks on bell towers the size of 1/8th of a drawing. I like this fanatical devotion to details in artists. When you can see that everything had a reason to be there. Not just "slap a single tone background, who cares anyway?!"
I care.

And I hope you guys will like the new cover once it is done. Now that I painted the city, rest of it is easy.

The Webcomics List Awards
This year I finally had an opportunity to nominate my favorites for the Webcomics List Awards, and boy did I ever. Of course, now I can't show you my list because I didn't save it on time (dumbass), but you can find links to some of the webcomics I read on my old blog or right here in the sidebar.

It would bring me great pleasure if even some of the creators out there took notice of Kid Amnesia or Amnesia the super-hero with a memory loss problem, but I realise it's too early and we don't do enough to promote our work as it is. Until we do (as soon as we redesign the web-site, I promise), those lucky readers who enjoy our work before we become world famous writers and artists (as if...) have our eternal gratitude and respect.

Amnesia the Prankster
Yesterday, all of our international readers got to meet Amnesia's uncle and his cousin Michael. As the summer vacation begins, Amnesia goes to the countryside and discovers all over again it's beauty and numerous activities he can join in.

This is the beginning of the third 'week' of Kid Amnesia adventures, something I honestly didn't expect to see, especially not so soon. Together with finding some great authors to do the guest comics for the printed edition (scheduled for spring 2011) and receiving the first guest comic from Filip, this managed to take my thoughts away from all the bad things happening in my life, and towards more creative ventures.

See you in two weeks!

Max's big vacation
I have a friend in France who has a small kid called Max and she asked me to draw a poster for his bedroom. I decided not to draw a specific drawing of a firetruck or dinosaurs or whatever small kids are up to now, but to draw that kid in many different actions and, most importantly, let him do the coloring. And, with help from his parents, letter the speech balloons too.
This is going to France by mail next Monday and I have my fingers crossed that Max likes it.

This was also a nice exercise for a new project Emir has in store. But more about that once it moves past the "new-blank-page-on-the-drawing-board" stage.

It has been done
14 months after finishing the 1st page of 2nd book of Amnesia I've finished the last, 50th. Oh yes, the second book of (old) Amnesia titled "Origin". I'm very happy how it turned out. It has some great and funny moments that even made me lough.

I'll show you what drawing a book like this looks like.

This is how my drawing table looked like after I've finished the last page.

I've completely used two 0.2 pens and half of 0.5 and brush pen.

The eraser on the left was the same size as the one on the right when I started.

This is how my scripts look like. I've crossed the screenplays as I've illustrated them.

And there are more of them...

And more...

Before drawing each episode "for real" I would sketch them. These are just a few of sketches with some character design.

What does 50 pages look like? Here it is, 2nd book in my portfolio. I've separated it from rest of my drawings.

It's just a amazing piece of work. And I can't wait to show it to you!

I just need to finish the front cover first.
